I had the pleasure of dropping by and visiting a good friend of mine Gus Barboza, his girlfriend Sharon and his Sister Lynne as well as an old neighborhood friend Sue Rogers from PAW ministries over at the Salvation Army on Purchase Street. Where you can find them every Saturday morning at 11:00am feeding and providing clothing for the homeless/needy. All home cooked food paid for with out-of-pocket money along with donations from various business’s and individuals alike. But they don’t stop there, at 1:00 they are heading over to their second location to start it all over again.
While I was there they must have fed over 200 people and I was able to hear a couple of peoples heartbreaking hard luck stories and the daily problems they face on the streets.
If you have any clothing/household belongings you are no longer in need of. Shoes, sneakers, kids toys etc. They are also very short on socks and underwear for obvious reasons. Whatever you can do, they are there every Saturday or you can get it to me if that’s easier.
Matthew
35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
